All I really have for you this week are a couple photos from around the house / studio and links.
Photos from the week
Links!
A post forwarded by reader Nicole about platonic life partners who are co-parenting in Brooklyn and doing the bulk of childcare themselves.
Read it on 🔗 The Purse 👛Jennifer Armbrust’s work has been interesting to me for years now, i keep her feminist economy postcard by my desk and she’s self-publishing a book that I would like to buy!
Available at the 🔗 Sister website 🌼Wishlist item, Caran d’Ache Neocolors
Buy from 🔗 Dick Blick 🖍Two posts about visual journaling, a practice I would love to add to my day but realistically how many daily practices can one person have?
’s 🔗 week in her journal 📒
Read 🔗 Rebecca Green’s Tips 🎨
SeeThis post from Katie Mae Mitchell hit hard. She’s a teacher and finally accepting the flood of emotions she’s been holding back since the time of the Columbine school shooting.
Read it on 🔗 her Substack 🏫Ugh this one hit hard, too. I often consider how much more or bigger my art would be with more studio space and Kristen is here to remind me that the studio does not make the artist.
Check out 🔗 Kristen’s Substack 🍃I could link to every single post from Nic Antoinette, especially loving this one about knowing when something is not right for your life and gracefully quitting.
See the post on 🔗 Wild Letters 📝
I’m on a Tatter roll right now, I spent last Saturday in their beautiful studio taking Megan Canning’s Embroidery as Painting class (see image above for my test embroidery). I’m going to sign up for the amish puzzle ball class, the sock mending class, and the fabric book series in January!
🔗 More Embroidery Classes (in-person) 🧵

🔗 Fabric Book Series 📚Another wishlist item, but not letting myself purchase until I complete the other basket kit I purchased one year ago at Sheep and Wool

Making Things Club
A reminder that Megan and I are hosting a virtual Making Things Club on October 22 from 8pm to 9:30 EDT and we hope you will join us!
That’s it for the week, see you next Sunday.

I recently purchased the Caran d’Ache Neocolors and I absolutely love them! I got them specifically for creating quick paintings in my sketchbook, and they work like a dream. Also, thank you for introducing me to Tatter. I live in Europe, so it's not something I would have easily discovered on my own. They also offer online classes, so I might join one in the near future.
