Collage was a medium I stumbled upon while working on my solo gallery show. I loved how freeing it was, where I didn’t have to be confined by straight lines and clean edges. It was pure, exhilarating mess. I loved it so much, that I rashly decided to illustrate my next solo book project…

We’ve been reading so much Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What Do You See? and now I want to make collages out of painting scraps. I remember we did a project like this in elementary school art class and it stuck with me all these years. Eric Carle is a national hero.

A painted scrap collage is perhaps a very good way to continue decorating my cardboard box spaceship.
