It’s been a bit of a struggle to make sense of the world this week. All I can do right now is make lists and keep my hands busy! The lists I made this week include a project wishlist, a hand-made gift to do list, and a supply wish list.Â
For the next two weeks we have a grandma in town to help with toddler care and that means I might get many hours a day to myself. Hoping to fill it with regenerative projects from my lists and planning for the future.
Project wishlist
Basket / bag for projects - something like this, but with my own style basket base. I started to prototype this, below:
Quilted cushion cover - when cleaning out my mom’s garage we came across an old amazon package that had been misdelivered months ago. Upon opening it we found a vacuum sealed and compressed piece of foam! How thrilling! Of course, we opened the seal to see how big it was and then I had to squish it in my checked bag to bring back. Worth it.
Hand bound books - feeling called to make my own sketchbooks again and also a big book to start a scrapbook for my kid. I have a bin full of things to remember and need to get it into some cool format.
Amish puzzle ball - still haven’t signed up for this Tatter class, but since I want to make this as a gift for a few babies in my life, I probably should!
Pinafore dress - always wanted an Electric Feathers dress and never found the occasion / money to get one, but perhaps can put my own spin on it for next summer.
Napkins - I want cloth napkins that actually fit in my thrifted napkin holder (2 down, 6 or so to go). I’ve had this napkin holder for years and just dealt with the fact that my BAGGU napkins never fit well in there.
Baz curtain - still going on this, sort of waiting to collect enough white fabric scraps for the border.
Drawstring rice bag - I just finished one of these (below)! But now I want a quilted version. This one will probably be someone’s gift.
Gift giving this year
My goal is to hand make several gifts this year, but even though it’s something I want I will not be disappointed if I just don’t have time for it. However, I’ve got some ideas for people who sew if you also want to make some gifts by hand.
Hussif for my hand sewing family members (link to video how-to)
Pin cushions from Youngmin Lee’s Bojagi book
Amish puzzle ball for the kids
Many many yards of bias tape for quilting friends
Project bags (like the one linked above, half basket / half bag!)
Supply wish list
My final list that’s been brewing this week is my supply wish list. Sometimes my desire for a physical thing dissolves if I just publish it, so here’s hoping!
That’s it for the week, perhaps next week I will have more complete thoughts to share?

I love lists too! Thanks for sharing yours. By chance do you have a pattern or could point me to a tutorial for your drawstring rice bag? It's so fun!
