Zines are in my orbit a lot lately. I think they have always been a popular medium, especially among artists, radicals and marginalized folks. I love them for many reasons. Mostly because they are a form of publishing that works outside of the large publishing institutions that tend to ignore the voices they deem unworthy. Aka, almost anyone can make a zine and distribute it! (Hey that probably means you can make one!!)

Not zine-related but connected to my love of zines because it’s about gatekeepers and sharing information. The most recent episode of You’re Wrong About really breaks down to the fact that some people get uncomfortable when young folks have their own access to information and start to form their own opinions. And so they talk of phone bans because that’s the only way to control their access to information.
Last, I leave you with the very beginnings of my newest project made from discarded beach umbrellas that I have been collecting all month. The process of patching all of these bits together has been a real pleasure and induced me into flow states that I haven’t reached in years. More to come.
See you next Sunday!
